Myprotein Peanut Butter Review
Peanut butter has always been one of my favourite foods.
And while I’ve never smeared it over my ballbag for canine fellatio purposes, I do use it for almost everything.
(Poor old peanut butter, what did it do to deserve an affiliation with bestiality and ‘paedo lube’?)
Anyway, because of its high protein and high calorie count, it’s the ideal treat for bulking season.
Having tried numerous brands in the past, I recently settled on Myprotein’s Peanut Butter.
Myprotein Peanut Butter is a 100% natural peanut butter with no crappy additives whatsoever.
It’s literally just crushed up peanuts – skin and all.
Even the peanut butters on supermarket shelves which claim to be naturally are usually not.
For example, take Sun Pat Natural Peanut Butter which still comprises:
Stabilizer (E471), Cane Sugar, Peanut Oil, Sea Salt
“All natural” my arse.
Myprotein Peanut Butter comes in ‘smooth’ (which I’m reviewing) or ‘crunchy’.
Per 100g, we’re looking at roughly 579kcal, 30g protein, 12g carbs, 46g fats.
Now, obviously this is a high fat content, of which roughly 18% of that is saturated.
But bear in mind this is healthy, naturally occurring fat, and is perfectly fine in moderation like anything else (except heroin).
Taste & Texture
When you open the tub there is usually a film of oil that has separated and risen to the top.
This is perfectly natural – just give it a good stir and you’re good to go.
The texture of Myprotein Peanut Butter is very thick and gloopy but still runny enough to use easily as a spread.
However the consistency – at least at first – does seem to vary slightly from tub to tub.
If it’s too runny whack it in the fridge for a day or so.
Now we come on to taste.
As this peanut butter has zero additives, it does taste slightly different to supermarket brands.
This ‘natural’ taste does take some getting used to, but once you get used to it you’ll never want to go back.
From hereon in that altered, salty taste of the supermarket brands will stick in your throat like a bad school dinner.
If you’re looking to bulk up, adding lashings of peanut butter to your diet is highly recommended.
I usually add 2-3 tablespoons alongside whey protein, instant oats, and banana for a homemade protein shake.
Delicious, calorific, and high in protein.
If you have any other recipe ideas, please let me know in the comments below.
Additionally, while it’s not ideal leaning up, it can still be effectively incorporated into your ‘cutting’ diet.
Being high in protein and low in carbs, peanut butter can satisfy your appetite and keep you from dipping your hand into the biscuit tin.
Around 220 calories for 2 table spoons is not that much when it can fill you up for several hours.
However, if you’re anything like me, stopping at two tablespoons is practically impossible.
It’s like going on a big night out and limiting yourself to only one jaegerbomb.
Not going to happen.
Value for Money
Like all Myprotein products, their peanut butter offers an exceptional bang for your buck.
A 1kg tub will set you back a mere £5.99!
You really can’t say fairer than that.
Myprotein Peanut Butter is delicious, 100% natural, and great value for money.
The perfect treat for bulking season.
